Sunday Suppers with Geri Hirsch
This Holiday season, Public Goods is looking to its favorite lifestyle personalities for their favorite holiday recipes and family traditions.
Last Sunday we asked Geri Hirsch—Creative Director of SAIE Beauty and owner of LA-based coffee shop, Neighborhood—to take us behind the scenes of one of her favorite holiday traditions, baking with her daughter, Leo.
For Thanksgiving this year, Geri and Leo are working to perfect their Holiday Crumble à la Mode.
Ingredients
Bowl 1: The Filling
- 2 apples, peeled and diced
- 2 pears, peeled and diced
- 1 pint blackberries
- ½ cup sugar
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Squeeze of lemon juice
Bowl 2: The Crumble
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- Pinch of cinnamon
- 8 tablespoons butter, cold & cubed
To Prepare
- Combine bowl 1 ingredients and mix.
- Combine the first 6 ingredients in bowl 2 and mix.
- Work cold cubed butter into the crumble (bowl 2) with your hands until it feels like coarse crumbs.
- In a butter baking dish, pour filling (bowl 1) and top with the crumble (bowl 2).
- Bake at 375ºF for 30-35 minutes.
- Let cool for 10 minutes.
- Serve with the tastiest vanilla ice cream you can find!
This also keeps well so you can make it in advance then pop it in the oven before serving.
Enjoy!
